Of all the massages, those that involve the use of oils are the most beneficial for the human body, except for therapeutic reasons.

The body should not be massaged when the skin is dry for friction, because heat and pain are produced, which causes damage to the body and disturbances in the balance of gases in the body. Patting, squeezing, kneading, and striking touches can be performed if oil is not available or if oil-free massage is necessary for some reason.

Pressing either gently or strongly can be done without oil, however rubbing and massaging the skin and muscle should always be done with oils.

The oil softens the skin, lubricates it to avoid friction, disperses heat and provides shine, strength and resistance to extreme temperatures in the environment, as well as pressure changes.

The oil prevents dryness, increases elasticity and quality, prevents the effects of premature aging.

What oils can I use?

The Ayurvedic Toxicology Study (Agada Thantra) identifies the use and properties of plants beneficial to human health and their different modes of application. In Ayurveda, herbal oils are one of the most important products for the physical, mental and spiritual health of the human being. The use of oils in massages contributes to the nutrition of the skin and relaxation of the muscles. Depending on the type of Ayurvedic oil, it benefits the lubrication of the organs, nourishes the deepest connective tissues, the bones, reaching the bone marrow, nervous tissues and reproductive fluids. And it contributes to the balance of the three doshas of the body providing harmony and peace.

The basic oils used in Ayurvedic massages are:

  • Mustard oil
  • Sesame oil
  • Almond oil
  • Coconut oil
  • Olive oil
  • Ashvaganda
  • Thripala

There is a large inventory of Ayurvedic herbal oils suitable for different health and prevention needs.

The use of essential oils for massages has also been introduced, which, because they are essences, must be combined with the base oils that are represented in the above mentioned vegetable oils, as well as in others.

Likewise, the human body inhales aromas through the sense of smell, which play a role in the brain that controls emotions and mind.

Behind the use of oil, one of the secrets most longed for by humanity is revealed: the use of elixirs that bring life, youth and health.
