What are essential oils?

What is aromatherapy? Textually aromatherapy means "treatment using essences". It refers to the use of essential oils to improve health, emotional well-being, as well as restore balance to the body.

What are essential oils? Essential oils are aromatic essences extracted from plants, flowers, trees, fruits, bark, herbs, and seeds. There are more than 150 kinds of oils that can be extracted. These oils have therapeutic, psychological and physiological properties that can improve health and prevent disease.

There are a variety of essential oils that are grouped by their source, there are five major groups identified: green, floral, citrus, wood and species (condiments).
