This time of year is characterized by an increase in environmental temperature associated with strong winds and long days that expose us to the rigors of time. In the Ayurvedic calendar it is identified with the constitution of Vata (dry). And just as we attend to the changes in our constitution through discomforts or diseases that arise, as such we must / should adjust our lifestyles, our metabolism to these environmental changes, as happens in other parts of the world when the seasons of the year are marked by the summer, spring, fall and winter.

What to do at this "summer" time of year in a tropical country, subject to felling and subsequent droughts? The effects of which alter the health of our ecosystem and therefore our own health? Of course, reforest our environment, everything that is within our reach, reforest, reforest and maintain what is planted, in that way we contribute to heal our planet.

But what about our body, it is also part of that natural ecosystem. We are subject to the sun, to the wind, to its long days, to external factors that seek to alleviate these extremes of temperature through air conditioning that its related function is to dry out our skin and internal organs through breathing. To use ice as a source of refreshment, etc.

What to do Ayurvedicly to protect our body, prevent it and prepare it for the excesses of these environmental rigors? First of all, take CONSCIOUSNESS THAT THERE ARE CHANGES and as such adjust certain styles, practices or behavior of life

I propose to you at this time of year to "reforest" in a simple, economical and healthy way, how? Through good practices and clear discipline…. gradually introducing these changes:

  • Drink water, yes, but let it be water from safe sources, let's avoid ice, it may be cold, but not frozen.
  • We can drink the water with lemon and mint, a super refreshing and easy-to-prepare soft drink. Remember moderation with sugar.
  • Aloe Vera, which is also easy to grow in our gardens and patios, has both internal and external use. Taking the gelatin as juice (well washed) and adding lemon and a little sugar is refreshing. It can also work as a laxative.
  • It is customary to use / apply Aloe Vera gel when you sunbathe on the beach, it is known as an ultraviolet ray sunscreen. Another option is your usual sunscreen.
  • Also apply Aloe Vera gel on skin sunburns, it refreshes and improves it.
  • What to say about Aloe Vera gelatin for hair you can apply it and prevent the wind from drying it out.
  • You can make facial masks with aloe vera gel or oatmeal flakes after a sunbathing session. You will feel a pleasant sensation of freshness and freshness.
  • If you drink liquor remember that it dehydrates the body, therefore, low sugar drinks should be a priority ... or reduce the intake of liquor. It's your choice.
  • Consume fruits, mainly those that contribute to maintaining a healthy digestive function such as papaya, guava, among others.

Enjoy these vacations, enjoy this time of year and contrary to expressing ourselves about the heat and discomfort that it produces, let's begin to become aware of how to collaborate to improve our environment.
